INVITATION PROCESS

How long does the process take?

The timeline depends on the complexity of your project, number of pieces, special printing, assembly and/or embellishments.  We work closely with you to gather the wording for your pieces through a questionnaire that we send to you once you have placed your order. This questionnaire gives you suggestions and options for wording, so no worries – we are here to help!

We know that every couple has a different timeline for mailing out their save the dates and/or invitations, so we will work with you to find out your timeline and manage the design and printing process to ensure your invitations are ready to go in the mail at your target date.

The custom design process typically entails:

  • Consultation: Determine paper type, invitation style (pocket, accent backing, single or double sided card. (1 hour)
  • Budget & Estimate: We create your quote and chat through options to stay in your budget.
  • Deposit:  You provide your 50% deposit.
  • Complete Questionnaire & Send Designs: It’s time to get down to the details! You will complete the wording questionnaire and send us any designs, pinterest boards.
  • Proofs: We will review your designs and will get our creative juices flowing to come up with your invitation that reflects you and draft your initial proof for your review. (1 week)
  • Revisions: You will provide feedback and we will keep changing the design until it is exactly perfect! Once you have approved the electronic proof of the invitation, we will then create your other pieces as they will match your final invitation design. (1-2 weeks)
  • Printed Proof: You will receive a printed proof of your final invitation design on your selected paper including any enhancements or embellishments. Once you review your printed proof, you will complete your approval form and let us know if the proof is approved as is or if you have any final changes. Note: Printed proofs are only for wedding invitation suites. (1 week)
  • Final Production: Printing and assembly, if required. (1- 2 weeks)
  • Packaged and Mailed: We will carefully package your invitation suite and mail it to you via UPS or USPS.

The overall process takes approximately 4 – 7 weeks, depending on how quickly feedback is received on your design proofs and printed proofs.

ORDERING INVITATIONS

When should I order my invitations?

We recommend that you start looking at invitations around 6 – 9 months from your wedding date. Some of our couples have met and placed their deposits 9 -12 months before their wedding allowing them more time for the overall process.

Does my design that I choose determine the price?

When we provide a quote it includes any design that you choose.  The design could be a full colored design and the price does not change.

Can I do matching ceremony programs, place cards, menus, table numbers or any other signage?

Yes, you sure can. Making everything match for your wedding day adds the finishing touch to your decor. We will provide you electronic proofs for your approval.

How do I order?

Visit our Find A Rep page and locate a rep or vendor near you.  We are excited to work with you and hear about your invitation ideas. If you do not find a rep in your area, we can still work with you! Please contact us at 319.431.3256 or info@weddingsbycarue.com and we will chat via phone, face time or google hangouts.

Is there a minimum number I need to order?

We do not have minimums at this time. We love sharing how you can tell us exactly how many invitations you need.  If you need 88 invitations, you can purchase 88 invitations, you do not have to purchase 90 or 100. We want you to pay for the invitations you need and not have lots of extras that will go to waste.

PRINTING

How long does it take to print invitations once they are approved?

It takes approximately 5 – 7 business days.

Can you print on envelopes?

Yes, we print on envelopes. This added option allows you to save time and it will match the contents inside with a coordinating font, style and colors. The return address will be printed on the back flap. We print return addresses as well as your guest(s) name via our variable data printing option. You provide us an excel spreadsheet with your guest name, address, city, state and zip in separate columns. We take care of the rest.

How are my invitations printed?

For our flat printed invitations, we print on the highest quality digital printers giving you even and vibrant colors on our finest paper options.

What is the purpose of a printed proof?

The printed proof allows you the opportunity to verify colors, designs, wording size, photos and paper selection.  You want to make sure it is just perfect, this is an extra touch that we provide to make sure you get exactly as you imagined it to be.  Once you approve the printed proof, your order will then go into production. If you have changes when you get your printed proof, no problem!  Just let the graphic designer know the changes on the approval form.
